A Year Of Writing A Column

User Diary

In a few weeks I'll have written a year's worth of MC Masala columns for a small SFBay Area newspaper conglomerate. That isn't the biggest thing about my life right now. I just moved to NYC, left Salon and started at Fog Creek Software in the three-year Management Training Program. But it's significant.

I started my blog here as a K5 diary. Later I moved it to a NewsBruiser installation and named it Cogito, Ergo Sumana. But I'm still fond of K5, so I just bought an ad to help Rusty out. I'm a teensy bit flush, because I just got a weekly column in a local paper. (First post.) I wouldn't be nearly as good a writer if I hadn't been blogging for years, and I started blogging here. Thanks, K5.

Spam As Folk Art

I now host both my regular diary at Cogito, Ergo Sumana and Spam As Folk Art. SAFA chronicles silly and weird and evocative spam subject lines and spammer names. Example: Hold on! Invitation violent reminds me that I knew Orkut was trouble.

Hope you can pay a visit.

Hey there, brainwane here, poking my head out on K5 after half a year away. I post a great deal at Cogito, Ergo Sumana. Anyway, I'm heading to Washington, DC this week, and if you live around there I'd be happy to meet up for a quick hello. Or if you have more suggestions on things to do in DC, I'm up for it!

I've spoken about these subjects briefly in my more frequently updated journal at Cogito, Ergo Sumana. Also, I no longer have to take care of adjectival-expletive cats. Yay!

I'm about to put up a few book reviews at my frequently updated weblog, Cogito, Ergo Sumana. The Futurians, Midnight's Children, No More Dead Dogs, The Chain of Chance. Check it out, perhaps.

I have to take care of some cats right now. Argh grr. Don't like it. On the up side, I have a job. I've been writing about these things at Cogito, Ergo Sumana, but just tell me if you can -- how do YOU put out cat food so ants and strays don't get at it?

At the end of my college career, I'm looking for a job. I have a great deal of experience in audio, audiovisual, and text journalism, writing, and editing. I am experienced on Mac, Windows, and Unix platforms and on all major office suites. I'm looking for a job, any job, clerical or tech support or customer service, so long as I don't have to sell things to people. More below.

I'm at home, bored, after a series of surprisingly unfulfilling social engagements with friends and acquaintances. But I still exist, and this weekend will be better. Check out my online journal for more incisive commentary.
